SLUTNIK: Melbourne + Adelaide Fringe

2022

We’re just about to lift off, and motherboard has initiated very important and very gay training for the lesbians on board before their intergalactic travels. They’ve not given away their lift-off location… but rumour has it that wherever they are, they’re living on the flesh of selected political officials.

Exploring themes of gender, sexuality, autonomy, and sex, SLUTNIK™ is, above all, a gay glitter fantasia. Think pink, space, sex, riotous fun, and (of course) cannibalism. Get ready for lift-off. Playing for a limited season at the Fringe Hub, SLUTNIK™ is a space adventure you want to be a part of.

Flick’s work is bold, unapologetic, and exactly the type of theatre we need more of on Australian stages.” – Theatre Travels

This project received Cash for Equity through the Fringe Fund, as part of the Ralph Mclean Microgrants program.

Reviews:

“Over-the-top hilarious” – ArtsHub

”A massively entertaining celebration of female queerness, clear your evening to climb aboard the good ship SLUTNIK™ – Theatre Travels

”The new design is slick and glorious, as is the chorey. The performances are some of the best around. The writing and direction are going to get talked about in the future in other works.” – Sometimes Melbourne

”SLUTNIK™ is wild and wonderful – a show full of queer joy that is driven by pain. The show has touched down twice in Melbourne this year. I hope it returns again soon – and in the meantime, travels the world. It’s that good…Director Tansy Gorman keeps the whole show moving at a rapid-fire pace, keeping adrenalin levels of the performers and the audience high. It’s an incredible achievement.” – Keith Gow

“Theatre may never be the same.” The Age
